July 12, 2023

E-invoicing is a key priority area for a growing number of AMS, including Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam. It is estimated that the potential cost-savings from e-invoicing for approximately 70.6 million MSMEs across ASEAN will amount to AUD141.1 billion. Despite the substantive cost savings that e-invoicing brings, not all MSMEs have switched to e-invoicing as they face certain barriers such as high adoption costs, information gaps, and technical capacity gaps, as well as the challenge of complying with various e-invoicing regulations across the world which each have subtle differences in requirements. In this regard, standards stand to play a crucial role in minimising cost and time barriers and reducing these barriers for MSMEs.
